Film Story :

The murder of an influential landlord on his wedding night, under mysterious circumstances, takes a cop on a dangerous mission to unravel the truth.

Raat Akeli Hai Movie Review :

Set in UP, Nawazuddin Siddqui plays Jatil Yadav, an unmarried cop, who is summoned to investigate the murder of a family patriarch. The victim belongs to an illustrious dysfunctional family and every member living in his sprawling haveli is now a suspect. While every person has a reason to kill, it is up to Jatil to discover, whose motive was strong enough to perpetrate the crime. On personal front, his mother (a terrific Ila Arun at her best as always) is busy bride hunting for her son, who is often rejected by younger girls for his colour or age. Embarrassed by his lack of choices, being rejected in the marriage market and his mother’s attempts at landing him a wife at random weddings, he buries himself in work. As fate would have it, work leads him to love. He finds himself drawn to a reclusive Radha (Radhika Apte), the bride of the elderly rich man, who was killed. Can his attraction for her, falter his judgement as a cop?Can he see through the web of lies and uncover the truth?

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is back in form after a forgettable Ghoomketu. As a man tackling personal and professional upheavals and displaying conflicting ideals, Nawaz is in top form. Radhika Apte is equally compelling as a mysterious Radha. Tigmanshu Dhulia, Shweta Tripathi, Shivani Raghuvanshi and Nishant Dahiya play their parts well. Aditya Srivastava feels a bit out of place though.

Raat Akeli Hai is a sincere attempt but it isn’t engaging enough for you to feel the joy of solving a murderous puzzle or detective riddles.

Film Story :

Life takes an unexpected turn for a printing press staffer, Nandan Kumar (Kunal Khemu), when he chances upon a briefcase filled with cash sitting on a dingy street. Seeing this as a window to a better livelihood, Nandan takes it home. But, the money is big and seekers aplenty. Will this be the end of his woes or the beginning of new sorrows?

Lootcase Movie Review :

A worn out tiffin hanging from his shoulder, an ungrateful workplace, a nagging wife at home and a kid who wouldn’t stop with his demands – Nandan Kumar is one of the many million faces drowning in the burden of his middle-class life. But a big, glossy red suitcase – or ‘lootcase’, as they would like to call it – comes as a glimmer of hope and he knows he would be foolish to let this one go. So, before embracing it, he makes this somewhat of a naïve announcement: “Last time poonch rahaan hoon, kiska suitcase hain?” Once Nandan realises there are no takers, off he goes! But the man is a chawl dweller and his neighbours are a bunch of noisy, pesky people. And his wife? A ‘poojari’s beti’ who wouldn’t accept this unwelcome guest although she’s always giving him grief over the family’s dire financial situation.

And the fact that the money was stolen from a top-notch politician, who was getting it hand delivered to another top-notch politician’s wife through a gang of goons, doesn’t help either. Rajesh Krishnan’s ‘Lootcase’ is a satire, a cinematic stareback at a poor man’s insatiable quench for wealth pitted against a rich man’s obsession to amass as much as he can – by fair or unfair means.

‘Lootcase’ is an earnest effort with regards to two things: bring to light the travesty of greed, and life in general. But, with the writers, Kapil Sawant and Rajesh Krishnan, falling prey to the need to take the safe route and inculcate the tried-and-tested formulas of this genre, honestly, the film didn’t have much promise beyond a point.

Film Story :

A biographical drama on the life of Shakuntala Devi, the renowned mathematician, whose astounding skills of solving complex math problems in record time won her admiration and awe, the world over.

Shakuntala Devi Movie Review :

‘Shankuntala Devi’ not only explores the mathematician’s fascinating relationship with numbers but her relationships beyond it as well – especially her life as a mother and a woman. If Shankuntala Devi’s intriguing journey which started off as a three-year-old solving difficult math problems and doing her own shows across schools was not remarkable enough – her fearless and independent spirit as a young woman in the 1950’s, who lived by her own rules adds to her dazzling persona. One which she fiercely protects through every stage of her life.‘Why should I be normal, when I can be amazing?’ Shakuntala Devi (Vidya Balan) asks her daughter Anupama (Sanya Malhotra), when during a skirmish the later questions why she can’t be a ‘normal’ mother.
As the film takes us through Shakuntala Devi’s life, it becomes obvious that while her equation with numbers was seamless, her personal equations often ended up being miscalculated. While highlighting her glorious on stage moments during her Maths Shows, it also delves into her string of troubled relationships - with her parents, the over riding anger towards her mother for not standing up to her father when it mattered, the men in her life and finally her strained relationship with her daughter.

Yaara Movie Review:

Vidyut Jammwal, Amit Sadh, Shruti Haasan and Vijay Varma flail about aimlessly because of the patchy screenplay.
A beefy Vidyut Jammwal and a brooding Amit Sadh, playing the two male leads, are called upon to put in the hard yards in a film that never quite gets off the ground. Written and directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, Yaara straddles five decades - from the early 1950s to the late 1990s - and yet seems caught in a time warp.

The blotchy action film would have us believe that it is an epic saga. Despite all its surface flourish and expansive historical allusions, it is trapped in a constricted bandwidth. The core of the film is exasperatingly hollow. In the bargain, the end result falls short of matching the overt ambition of the enterprise.

Yaara banks on numerous Hindi cinema cross-references and stray mentions of socio-political developments to mark out the different eras in the life of the film's five principal characters - four outlaws who stick together through thick and thin (until the law catches up and comes down heavily on them) and the girlfriend/wife of one of the guys.

A large chunk of the story takes place in the 1970s before the film jumps to 1997. In fact, Yaara opens in the late 1990s with the return of Mitwa to Delhi, which sets off a chain of events that tests Phagun and Sukanya's marriage, and then moves back and forth through the decades. The early portions of Yaara recall 1970s Mumbai potboilers, but the look and feel of the rest of the film tend to be erratic.

Film Story :

As romance blooms between two youngsters fighting cancer, Kizie and Manny, they live it up to the fullest, despite the inevitable tragedy looming over them.

Dil Bechara Movie Review :

‘Dil Bechara’ is the Hindi film adaptation of John Green’s popular 2012 novel, 'The Fault in Our Stars'. In fact, the book’s Hollywood adaptation with the same name in 2016 met with much critical acclaim.

‘Dil Bechara’ sets itself in Jamshedpur and introduces us to the Basu family. Kizie Basu (Sanjana Sanghi) suffers from thyroid cancer, which has now affected her lungs, requiring her to be on oxygen support almost all the time. With rock solid support from her parents, Kizie takes life as it comes, even taking the bleak, daily multiple hospital visits in her stride. But what she craves for, is a normal life like any girl her age – with regular problems like boyfriends, crushes et al. Instead what she ends up doing is attend funerals of people she doesn't know, to feel a connection of the inevitable that lies ahead of her. She meets Immanuel Rajkumar Junior or Manny (Sushant Singh Rajput) in college at first and later at a cancer support group. And given her quiet, introvert nature, at first, she is wary of his high energy, exuberance and cockiness. Manny has his own story – he has survived osteosarcoma and his cancer is currently in remission.

Even though the film’s spirit and breezy pace triumphs, the melancholy that augurs it, will leave you in a puddle of emotions and with a heavy lump in your throat as the end credits roll. ‘Dil Bechara’ will always be remembered as Sushant Singh Rajput’s swan song. Watch this movie simply to witness Sushant Singh Rajput’s last act. A brilliant one at that.

Virgin Bhanupriya Movie Review : Another run-of-the-mill take on sexual liberation

Virgin Bhanupriya Film Poster
Virgin Bhanupriya is an 2020 Bollywood comedy-drama film directer is Ajay Lohan and producer is Shreyans Mahendra Dhariwal. The film stars Urvashi Rautela in the lead role. The film is a family comedy that explores relationship between youngsters and their families. The film was scheduled for theatrical release in India, but has moved to release on 16 July 2020 through ZEE5 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Critic's Rating : 2.0/5

Avg. Users' Rating : 2.0/5

Film Story :

Bhanupriya (Urvashi Rautela) is a smart, highly qualified college girl whose biggest regret is that she is still a virgin. With a little push from her forward-thinking friend Rukul (Rumana Molla), Bhanu — as she is fondly called — musters the courage to initiate an intimate encounter. And that snowballs into a comedy of errors.

Virgin Bhanupriya Movie Review :

Bhanupriya has multiple accolades to her credit and has always been a star student. Even though her parents are separated and are constantly at loggerheads, Bhanu still has a family life filled with love. But she resents the fact that all her peers have begun fulfilling their sexual fantasies except her. She is in college and yet to kiss a boy!
With her friend Rukul scoring men at an alarmingly high rate, the self-imposed pressure on Bhanu to “give away her flower” is mounting. After multiple failed attempts at losing her virginity and a tarot card reader’s prediction that she would always remain a virgin, Bhanu finally finds a ‘heroic man’ —Shartiya aka Abhimanyu (Gautam Gulati). As his moniker states, he would go to any length to win a bet. Is Shartiya going to win her over and break the jinx? Only time will tell!

‘Virgin Bhanupriya’ has a noble intent and its heart is in the right place, but an inconsistent storyline, coupled with common tropes, make this virginity talk something I wouldn't be too keen on listening to this weekend.

Breathe: Into the Shadows Movie Review :  A MASALA THRILLER THAT COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH MORE

Breathe Into Thje Shadows Film Poster
Breathe: Into the Shadows is an Indian crime drama thriller web television series created and directed by Mayank Sharma and bankrolled by Abundantia Entertainment for Prime Video as a sequel series for 2018 series Breathe. The series stars Abhishek Bacchan, Amit Sadh, and Nithya Menen in lead roles. The series is scheduled to premiere on July 10, 2020.The series comprises of 12 episodes.

Critic's Rating : 3.0/5

Avg. Users' Rating : 1.5/5

Film Story :

A 6-year-old is kidnapped a mysterious masked man, who demands an unusual ransom. To save his daughter, Dr. Avinash Sabharwal must kill someone. Meanwhile, Kabir Sawant's journey continues in the hostile environment of the Delhi Crime branch. Lies, deceit and mind games begin when Kabir is given charge of the investigation, and meets Avinash. How far will Avinash go to save his daughter?

Breathe: Into the Shadows Movie Review :

Mayank Sharma is back with the second season of Breathe, which is also about a desperate father out to save his only child, even if he has to kill for it. Breathe: Into the Shadows sees Abhishek A Bachchan making his OTT debut as that father, with a beefed-up Amit Sadh connecting the two seasons as inspector Kabir Sawant.
The series begins on the right note, establishing Avinash and Nithya’s successful careers as a psychiatrist and a chef and a happy life revolving around their daughter Siya. There is also a parallel track of Kabir, who is serving a sentence for his high-handedness in tackling a case. After six months and surviving some murderous assaults in the prison, Kabir gets himself transferred to Delhi to be close to the victim of his callousness, Meghna Verma (Plabita Borthakur). It serves well to establish the storms the crime branch officer has weathered since the first season and his state of mind. But as the story progresses, a potentially complex storyline is over simplified.
Avinash tries to kill his first victim in broad daylight in a close-knit Delhi colony but no one seems to notice his six-foot-plus presence.
He shows astounding courage for a man who has never killed anyone in his life till that moment. With someone as intelligent and physically imposing as him, wandering around without any disguise seems a bit too courageous. The plans for the murders always seem a bit under-cooked and hasty. Loads of hows and whys hang in the air after each kill. And by the time we reach the big reveal, things suddenly go the masala Bollywood way predictable.

Rasbhari  is a 2020 Bollywood drama  Romantic film Series writter is  Shantanu Srivastava  and Directer is  Nikhil Bhat .The star cast  Swara Bhaskar, Ayushmaan Saxena, Rashmi Agdekar .The film. Rasbhari  was released on Amazon Prime on 25 Jun 2020.

Rasbhari Film Story:

Nand Kishore Tyagi (Ayushmaan Saxena), a teenage boy, is infatuated with his English teacher Shanoo madam (Swara Bhasker). Where is this one-sided relationship headed?

Rasbhari Movie Review :

It’s a provocative series that deals with the adolescent curiosities of both genders. Set in Meerut, teenager Nand Kishore has set a target for himself: that he wants to lose his virginity before high school ends. But it seems like a far-fetched dream, considering he refers to every other girl in school as his sister. Nand even ignores Priyanka (Rashmi Agdekar), who likes him and always keeps on dropping hints about her attraction towards him. However, the new married English teacher in school fans his fantasies. As soon as Shanoo arrives in town, everyone is awestruck by her beauty and that includes Nand. He is drawn towards her and decides to persuade the dashing desi beauty.

In no time, Shanoo becomes the talk of the town, with all the local guys swooning over her. They go as far as making loose claims that they have had sex with her. Furious, Nand starts keeping a tab on her visitors and even enrolls himself for private tuitions with the much in demand teacher. And that’s when he learns that there is another side to this femme fatale: she is also a sex-obsessed spirit. Now, we have to wait and see if Nand will get to fulfill his lustful desires?

Swara Bhasker’s alter ego, the sexy siren Rashbari, is mystery personified and adds the right amount of sensuality to the story with her presence. But as Shanoo, she has nothing much to offer other than being an attractive school teacher. Her appearance is a gentle reminder of Sushmita Sen’s ‘hot professor’ act from the movie 'Main Hoon Na'. However, narrator-actor Ayushmaan Saxena as the lust-struck teenager Nand, delivers a decent performance. Rashmi Agdekar and Ayushmaan project the sexual fantasies of the younger generation with ease.

The series consists of eight episodes, but unfortunately, the story picks up only in the latter half. Writer Shantanu Shrivastava uses Swara’s character as a metaphor to showcase how sexually suppressed Indians are. He tries to throw light on how women are treated in our patriarchal society but that seems like a half-baked effort. The dialogues, especially the conversations between Nand and his two besties Vipul (Akshay Suri) and Bhalla (Akshay Batchu), lend humour to the script.

On a positive side, Nikhil Nagesh Bhat’s ‘Rasbhari’ is an erotica that never gets crass and sleazy. Although, it succeeds to a reasonable extent in making the theme of sexual liberation and awakening a subject to ponder upon, it’s the open-ended climax that leaves one perplexed. The small-town vibe has been captured well in the series, which is accompanied by relatable characterisation.

The intent of ‘Rasbhari’ is to be a bold adult comedy but it fails to enthrall.
